Mock Driving Test in Watford WD17

Welcome to Mock Driving Tests for a  Professional Mock Exam.”

The Importance of a Mock Driving Test: A Professional Guide

A Mock Driving Test is a practice examination conducted in the same manner as an official driving test. It is an essential exercise that every learner driver should undertake before their official driving test, providing an unbiased, third-party evaluation.

Unfortunately, many driving instructors in the Watford area do not offer mock tests, depriving their students of experiencing a real-life test scenario. An independent mock test helps reduce anxiety by familiarising you with the test format and expectations. Conducting the test with someone other than your instructor provides a realistic assessment of your readiness and helps pinpoint areas needing improvement that official examiners might not highlight.

Why opt for a Mock Driving Test?

Learners who skip the mock test are more likely to fail the actual test because they are unfamiliar with its format and structure. In contrast, those who take a mock test are better prepared and have a higher chance of passing.

Here is what you can expect from a Mock Driving Test:

The Process

  • Initial Meeting: A mock examiner will meet you at a pre-arranged location convenient for you.
  • Briefing: The test begins with a short briefing explaining what to expect during the test.
  • Eye Test: You will have an eye test to ensure your vision meets the required standards for safe driving.
  • Show and Tell: You will be asked four questions in a ‘show’ or ‘tell’ format, demonstrating your knowledge of the vehicle. Two questions will be asked before the drive and two during the drive. During the official test, you will be asked only two questions.
  • Driving Test: Once you are seated in your car, the mock test will last approximately 38 to 40 minutes. It will include road junctions, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, dual carriageways, and town driving.
  • Reversing Manoeuvres: You will perform two reversing manoeuvres. During the official test, you will only carry out one reversing manoeuvre.
  • Emergency Stop: You will be required to execute an emergency stop.
  • Independent Driving: For around 20 minutes, you will drive independently, following road signs or using a provided satnav.

Choosing the Right Car

Using the car you have been practising in is recommended, whether your own or your instructor’s.

Most instructors support mock tests and will accommodate them. If you prefer not to inform your instructor, use one of our manual or automatic cars.

While you may be less familiar with it, the mock test focuses on safe driving in various situations rather than familiarity with a specific vehicle.
